SBS has launched a daily news bulletin for new English speakers – SBS News in Easy English. The first episode is now available on the SBS Radio app and all popular podcast platforms.
Episodes of SBS News in Easy English are read slowly, using simplified language, and are five minutes long. Content will focus on mostly Australian news, and the transcription of each episode will be available in the body text.
The podcast will make it easier for new English speakers to access free, impartial information about the news topics that most affect them.
SBS Director of News and Current Affairs, Mandi Wicks, said: “SBS’s purpose is to encourage social cohesion within Australia. While SBS provides balanced and impartial news and information in 63 languages, this new podcast series in English will provide an inclusive and informative service for those who might be learning English.”
