As we celebrate the 2016 annual Hangeul day, four Australians with diverse heritage background met together to talk about their love and passion for Korean language and culture.

There are around 7,000 or so different languages in the world, yet only about 40 of them can be written in characters. Among them, Korean Hangeul is the only set of characters that has the definite written record of who invented it and why.

Today, hangeul is regarded as one of the most systematic alphabets in the world, and is annually celebrated, designated as Hangeul Day.

October 9 of every year holds a very special place in the hearts of Koreans. This year, it is the 570th birthday of hangeul, the native Korean alphabet invented by King Sejong the Great.

In celebration of this day, SBS Korean Radio Program invited four Australians with diverse heritage background in its special program I love you, Hangeul to talk about their love and interest in learning Korean language and culture.
