'People are tired and want to live in peace now'

We discuss the current state of affairs in northeastern Syria, particularly in Kobani, with Umar Menla Yusif, a local pharmacist from Kobani. The ongoing threats from Turkey have left residents anxious. On the contrary, there is a sense of optimism among the population that the new government after the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime may bring peace to Syria, as the Syrian people are generally tired of conflicts and yearn for a peaceful life.
