Australia and Indonesia are two of the world's 20 largest economies and close neighbours, but neither are in each other's top 10 trading partners.

Australia and Indonesia will sign a free trade deal by the end of the year. It follows a visit to Indonesia's capital Jakarta by the new Prime Minister Scott Morrison where he met with Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

The deal will remove tariffs and allow greater access to the Indonesian market for Australian farmers and Australian universities.
