A 19-year-old man has been charged with aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death among other charges after a fatal car crash at Londonderry on Sunday night, police have said.
Emergency services were called to Carrington Road at Londonderry about 8.50pm on Sunday 17 September 2017, and found a sedan had left the road and struck a power pole, bringing down lines.
A front-seat passenger sustained multiple injuries and was conveyed to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
The 19-year-old driver escaped serious injury and was taken to Westmead Hospital to undergo mandatory testing.
Officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit commenced their inquiries into the cause of the crash.
Shortly after 5pm today (Monday 18 September 2017), a 19-year-old man attended Windsor Police Station where he was arrested.
The man was then charged with aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death, aggravated dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving occasioning death, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Windsor Local Court on Thursday 12 October 2017.
