Canada's defence minister Harjit Sajjan was heckled in Parliament with opposition member Jason Kenny shouting that MPs needed an “English-to-English” translation as he spoke.

Liberal MPs have termed the heckling of Canda's first Sikh defence minister as 'racist'.

Veteran Conservative member and Canada's former Defence minister Jason Kenny interrupted Sajjan while he was responding to a question about operations against the Islamic State.

Kenny said the the MP needed "English-to-English" translation of what Sajjan was saying.

A Liberal MP later demanded an apology from Kenny for his comments. However, Kenny refused to apologise saying the minister's comments were incoherent.

MPs Ruby Sahota and Raj Grewal also demanded apology from Kenny.
45-year-old Harjit Sajjan was sworn in as Defence Minister in Justin Trudeau's cabinet in November last year. Sajjan moved to Canada with his parents when he was five-years-old. As a defence personnel, he has done deployments in Bosnia and Afghanistan.
