A 42-year-old Indian man was repeatedly punched in the face, leaving him with multiple fractures in the lower jaw, in an attack in Adelaide.
Jaswinder Singh Uppal was returning home after attending his English class at the city TAFE on Feb 20 when he was assaulted by a man now charged with his attack.The Indian migrant who works part-time with the Australian Independent Taxi, Adelaide, underwent a 4-hour long surgery at the Royal Adelaide Hospital for multiple fractures.

“This attack has caused us so much mental trauma.. we are always fearful now. Whenever I go out, I am always fearful that something like this can happen again,” Jaswinder's wife Neeru told SBS Punjabi.
“This is an event that will leave life-long scars for us,” she added.
The couple who arrived in Australia two years ago with their son on temporary visas has been left feeling scared for their safety after the incident.
The alleged attacker, a 41-year-old man was arrested Thursday and charged with assault causing harm, and breach of bail.
He was refused bail and is due to appear in the Adelaide Magistrate’s court on Friday.
As a result of his injuries, Jaswinder will not be able to return to work for a month.
