The Indian migrant who works part-time with the Australian Independent Taxi, Adelaide, underwent a 4-hour long surgery at the Royal Adelaide Hospital for multiple fractures.

“This attack has caused us so much mental trauma.. we are always fearful now. Whenever I go out, I am always fearful that something like this can happen again,” Jaswinder's wife Neeru told SBS Punjabi.

“This is an event that will leave life-long scars for us,” she added.

The couple who arrived in Australia two years ago with their son on temporary visas has been left feeling scared for their safety after the incident.

The alleged attacker, a 41-year-old man was arrested Thursday and charged with assault causing harm, and breach of bail.
