An Indian schoolboy’s startup that recycles used tyres in an environment-friendly way has found a place in the first edition of United Nation’s on Sustainable Development Solutions Network.
17-year-old Anubhav Wadhwa set up his company, Tyrelessly, after seeing people burning discarded tyres to produce heat. He saw a lot of smoke billowing from the burning tyres that polluted the air. Tyrelessly recycles discarded tyres and produces biofuel and other by-products.
“Seeing someone set tyres on fire got me thinking. The idea led to setting up of Tyrelessly. To avoid the environmental hazard, we set up an end-of-life tyre aggregator, working through an efficient platform,” he said.
After launching from his home, Tyrelessly is already providing services in and around India's national capital region where clients can order a doorstep pickup of discarded tyres and then track their end-of-life journey. He now plans to introduce it across India. Anubhav's company aims to partner with cities, communities, brands and individuals to build a waste-free future.
In the Youth Solutions report, the UN showcases the work of young entrepreneurs and presents them with opportunities to draw interest from potential supporters. The first edition of the report identifies 50 such projects that aim to solve environmental issues.
The projects are selected by an expert advisory panel led by Jeffery Sachs, an American economist and director at The Earth Institute, Columbia University.
A student of Pathways World School in Gurgaon, next to India’s capital Delhi, the 17-year-old is a Technology Entrepreneur, Designer, Big Data Analyst, Computer Programmer and 'bottom of pyramid' Social Activist.
He is also the Founder & CEO of TechAPTO. As a part of his vision to work towards furthering Sustainable Development Goals, Anubhav deploys collaborative technology platforms across sectors, including Health, Education and Environment.
