Family members of a 28-year-old woman from India who died in Australia last week have alleged that she was killed by her husband and the in-laws for failing to bring additional dowry.

The body of the woman, Ramya Krishna P, was flown to Hyderabad on Friday night. Her husband and his parents accompanied her dead body to India.

Ramya's family alleged that her husband left her body at the Hyderabad airport and took a return flight to Australia. They also alleged that her husband killed Ramya for additional dowry.

Ramya Krishna married a businessman hailing from Warangal district of Telangana, four years ago.

"She was harassed for additional dowry by her husband and in-laws. Despite giving them property worth Rs 1 crore, one kg of gold and Rs 40 lakh in cash during the marriage, they harassed her," said her brother.

"She was under depression. We were told that she hanged herself at her house in Melbourne," Krishna said.

Ramya Krishna's family has lodged a police complaint in India in this regard.

Meanwhile, speaking to local news channel over the phone, her husband and his family members denied the allegations. They said Ramya committed suicide by hanging herself.
