A Kiwi-Indian Sikh truck driver who is also working as community radio presenter has been targeted with racist and abusive comments “go back to your country”  in a South Auckland safe storage facility.

Bikramjit Singh in a social media post released a video today that shows a resident washing his car exploding with a f*** word tirade followed by “go back to your country” racist slur.

Mr Singh who owns and operates a truck business, was parking his truck at a storage facility in South Auckland when this incident occurred.

Mr Singh told SBS that he had been driving faster than the 5 KM speed limit restriction inside the safe storage business facility.
“I can’t be sure if this reaction was to my passing truck’s speed, or my turbaned Sikh identity,” says Bikram.
"I want to raise awareness against racism, the prime reason why I brought it to media's attention. I want people to come forward and not to be afraid."

"The Kiwi people and police is there to support us."

The video depicts that the man in question was not impressed when Mr Singh told that he was a New Zealander and this country also belonged to him.

Mr Singh alleged that the man in question punched him, wet him (with the hose) and tried to snatch his mobile as well.

Mr Singh has lodged a formal complaint at Manukau or Otahuhu Police Station, and an investigation is pending in this matter.

According to Mr Singh, the business owner of the safe storage facility has advised that he will provide CCTV footage of the incident.
