Melbourne cabbie suspended for being ‘unfair’ to an elderly passenger

A Melbourne taxi driver appeared to be refusing an elderly man for a short trip has been suspended after his footage surfaced on social media.

13CABS is investigating an incident after a taxi driver’s unpleasant behaviour was captured in a video shared on Facebook.

Shortly after being reported by , 13CABS confirmed the driver had been suspended pending an investigation.

"13CABS has immediately suspended this driver until further investigation," said a spokesperson.

The video was captured by a passer-by who uploaded it on Facebook Thursday night. 

He believed the elderly passenger aged in his 80s was a stroke victim and was treated unfairly by the taxi driver.

“I'll tell you right now, you are obligated to take him, even if it's 100 metres."

The taxi driver replied, telling him to mind his business.

According to Seven News, the driver’s employer 13CABS has suspended him pending an investigation.

The Taxi Services Commission is also looking into the matter and has appealed to the elderly passenger to come forward to speak about the incidence.
