At present, names of hundreds of Sikh victims are written on angular walls of the memorial originally constructed as a tribute to over 3,000 Sikhs who were killed in the anti-Sikh violence in 1984 as a “reminder of justice” in New Delhi.

Announcing the decision on Monday, the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) said names of all Sikhs including the Muslim driver and the Hindu passengers who lost their lives in the recent suicide bomb attack in Afghanistan will also be engraved on a wall at the memorial site.
Besides the names of the Afghan victims, those killed in Nirankari riots in 1978, 32 at Hond Chillar village Haryana in 1984, 10 in Pilibhit encounter case in 1991, seven in Pilibhit jail and 37 in in Chitti Singhpura in Jammu and Kashmir and six Sikhs killed in Oak Creek gurudwara in US in 2012 will also be inscribed on the wall.

The memorial site which was opened to public in January last year also has walls dedicated to unidentified victims and those belonging to other religions who lost their lives while saving their Sikh friends in November 1984, alongside sculptures that epitomize humanity and tolerance.

The decision to build the memorial at the Gurudwara Rakabganj Sahib complex was taken soon after Congress leader Sajjan Kumar, one of the accused in the anti-Sikh riots case was acquitted by the court in 2013.
