The Rajasthan High Court has acquitted Bollywood actor Salman Khan of all charges in the Arms Act case. The case was regarding the alleged poaching of two black bucks in October 1998 in Kankani village while he was shooting for the movie “Hum Sath Sath hain”. He was charged under the Arms Act for possession and use of arms with an expired license.
Salman was carrying 0.22 rifle and 0.32 revolver, both of which had expired licenses. The case was filed under Section 3/25 and 3/27 which carry a sentence of three years and seven years respectively. Salman was handed a one year and five years’ imprisonment verdict by a lower court earlier, and he has challenged this verdict in the High Court.
The Bollywood star was present in the court when the verdict was pronounced. He had arrived in Jodhpur with his sister Alveera and his advocates yesterday.
While the defence had argued that Salman Khan was framed by the Forest Department, the prosecution had said that there was enough evidence against the film star for the possession and use of arms with an expired license.
The case of poaching against him is still pending.
