A young Indian family is feeling devastated after thieves struck at their home in broad daylight and stole passports and important documents, besides other valuable items.
30-year-old Simranjit Singh left his Lalor home, in Melbourne's north, at 7.30 for work on Friday morning. Just hours later he received the ominous news from a housemate.“When my housemate reached home at around 11, the main door of the house was open. The lock of my room was broken and several items were missing,” he said.

Simrantjit said the thieves entered his home through the kitchen window. They allegedly broke the lock of Simranjit’s room and stole several items, among them passports of his wife and 2-year-old daughter.
Simranjit has made an appeal for the return of his documents and passports.
“Our two laptops and a digital camera have gone. But more importantly, our passports and a file containing all my certificates and degrees are also gone. I am not worried about other things but my documents are very important,” he told SBS Punjabi.
The family is on a temporary Australian visa. Victoria police personnel attended the crime scene but no fingerprints were found.
