An article in compared Indian skipper Virat Kohli with the US President Donald Trump saying the star Indian batsman was perpetuating “fake news”.

“Virat Kohli has become the Donald Trump of world sports.”

“Just like President Trump, Kohli decided to blame the media as a means of trying to hide the egg smeared right across his face,” read the article referring to Kohli’s accusation against captain Steve Smith and his teammates of disrespecting Indian team physio Patrick Farhart.

“They started taking Patrick’s name. I don’t know why. He is our physio. His job is to treat me. I don’t find the reason behind it,” Kohli said at the post-match media conference.

Responding to Kohli’s allegation, Capt Smith said he was disappointed and he hadn’t done any such thing.

“Virat was having a go at me out in the middle and saying how I was disrespecting Patrick Farhart when actually it was the exact opposite. If I was to do anything, he did a pretty terrific job to get Virat back on the field after that shoulder,” said Smith.

It was obvious for the Indian captain to find support from his fans. Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan tweeted his support to the Indian skipper.
But the flamboyant Indian captain also found support from former Australian captain Michael Clarke who was furious at the Australian press for drawing parallels between Kohli and Trump.

Comparing Virat Kohli with Donald Trump - what a load of shit’s that. What Virat did, even Smith would have. I could just laugh about the Trump thing. I find it quite funny and am sure Virat will also find it quite funny," Clarke told television.

Clarke said the Australian public actually loved Kohli and it was just a couple of reporters who were trying to tarnish his image.

"I always somehow find an Australian in him the way he plays and I absolutely love how he accepts challenges. It's just two or three reporters who are trying to tarnish him but Virat shouldn't be bothered," Clarke said.
