A tradie came to the rescue of a young Indian student caught in a service station robbery in Melbourne during the early hours on Tuesday, reported.

19-year-old Jaspreet Singh was alone at the 7Eleven convenience store in Hampton Park in south-east of Melbourne when three armed robbers broke open the door of the store with a knife and a machete and made a forced entry.

The trio stole items and one wielding a long machete forced Singh to open the cash register and took hundreds of dollars from it.
Even though Singh complied with their orders, one of the robbers continued to smash glass screens of the counter room where Singh had locked himself in, forcing him to open the door.

While the robbers terrified the young store attendant, a tradie filling out outside was alerted as he heard the noise.

With a hammer in his hand, the tradie then slowly approached the store, confronting the three robbers who managed to escape even as he chased them behind the store.

The tradie, who is a regular customer, stayed behind with Jaspreet until the police arrived.

Jaspreet only has praise for him.

“He is a nice guy. He tried to save me,” he told .
