Two workers of an Indian eatery have been arrested following the death of a 15-year-old girl due to an allergic reaction after she ate a meal at the restaurant.

On December 30, Megan Lee suffered a severe allergic reaction after she ate at Royal Spice Indian restaurant in Lancashire, UK.

The teenager was taken to a hospital where she passed away two days later on the New Year’s Day.

The police launched an investigation into Ms Lee's death.

A police spokesman said Ms Lee had eaten at the Indian restaurant on December 30 and had an allergic reaction.

Police have now arrested two workers at the restaurant on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter by gross negligence.

“The men aged 37 from Rossendale and 38 from Blackburn have been arrested on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter by gross negligence and are currently in police custody,” a police spokesman said.

The complete result of the post-mortem examination to find the cause of Ms Lee’s death is not known yet.

The police is now jointly investigating with the Environmental Health and Trading Standards departments.
