A Gold Coast-based Punjabi family, who launched an online petition in 2023 requesting permanent residency in Australia, has now been granted PR. Their approval comes nearly two years after receiving a deportation notice, following a long and challenging visa battle, which was ultimately approved following ministerial intervention. The family includes Parminder Singh, who arrived in Australia as an international student in 2008, his wife, and their son, who was born in Australia. Singh’s previous visa applications were repeatedly rejected, and the family claims to have endured years of uncertainty and hardship. Listen to their full story in this interview.
