Skills in Demand visa came into effect from December 7, 2024.

Australia has introduced a new 'skills in demand' visa, which will replace the existing temporary skills shortage (TSS) visa, subclass 482. This change is part of the government's broader migration system overhaul, aimed at addressing skills shortages across the country. Speaking to SBS Punjabi, Melbourne-based visa expert Navneet Singh mentioned that the new changes could provide an easier pathway to permanent residency (PR).Know all about the new visa changes through this podcast.

The visa has three targeted streams: a core skills stream, a specialist skills stream, and a labour agreement stream.

The new visa costs $3,115 for the main applicant. Additional expenses, such as the English proficiency test, police screening, medical exam, and other requirements, may increase the overall cost.
