ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਆ ਦੇ ਹੋਮ ਅਫੇਯਰ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਪੀਟਰ ਡੱਟਣ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸੋਮਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਸ ਕੰਪਨੀ ਦਾ ਟਰੱਕ ਨਿਊ ਸਾਊਥ ਵੇਲਜ਼ ਦੇ ਵੁੱਲੋਂਗੋਂਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਾਦਸਾ ਗ੍ਰਸਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ ਉਸਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਅਨ ਬਾਰਡਰ ਫੋਰਸ ਨੇ ਪੜਤਾਲ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਸਿਡਨੀ ਵਿਚਲੀ ਕੰਪਨੀ ਹਰੀ ਓਮ ਟ੍ਰਾੰਸਪੋਰਟ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਹਾਦਸੇ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲੱਗੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਘੱਟ ਤਨਖਾਹ ਤੇ ਹਫਤੇ ਦੇ 20 ਘੰਟਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
"ਕਈਆਂ ਦੇ ਵੀਜ਼ੇ ਰੱਦ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਓਹਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਆ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਪਿਸ ਜਾਣਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕਈ ਮਾਮਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਰੋਬਾਰੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਦਰਜ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ," ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਡੱਟਣ ਨੇ ਸਿਡਨੀ ਦੇ 2GB ਰੇਡੀਓ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ।
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਬਾਰਡਰ ਫੋਰਸ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਕੰਪਨੀ ਦੀ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਪੜਤਾਲ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਇਸਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਨਿਊ ਸਾਊਥ ਵੇਲਜ਼ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਅਤੇ ਸੂਬੇ ਦੇ ਟਰਾਂਸਪੋਰਟ ਮਹਿਕਮੇ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਕੰਪਨੀ ਦੀ ਪੜਤਾਲ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕੰਪਨੀ ਦੇ ਟਰੱਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੜਤਾਲ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਟਰੱਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨੁਕਸ ਮਿਲੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਇਸ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਨੋਟਿਸ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
ਸੋਮਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ 23 ਸਾਲ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਜਿਸ ਟਰੱਕ ਨੂੰ ਚਲਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਉਹ ਵੁੱਲੋਂਗੋਂਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਫਾਸਟ ਫ਼ੂਡ ਰੈਸਟੋਰੈਂਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾ ਵੱਜਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਦੋ ਗੱਡੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਟੱਕਰ ਮਾਰੀ।
ਹਾਦਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਔਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਹਲਕਿਆਂ ਸੱਟਾਂ ਵੱਜੀਆਂ ਜਦਕਿ ਟਰੱਕ ਡਰਾਈਵਰ ਨੂੰ ਪਿੱਠ ਦੇ ਨਿਚਲੇ ਹਿੱਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਲਕੀ ਸੱਟ ਵੱਜੀ ਹੈ।

The Australian Border Force has been tasked with investigating claims of exploitation of international students by a trucking company after one of its trucks crashed into a fast food joint in Wollongong on Monday.
Hari Om Transport, a NSW trucking company is under investigation after the crash and the Roads and Maritime Services NSW found major defects in the company’s trucks that were inspected.
RMS Director of Compliance Roger Weeks told that the truck had major defects and was issued with a notice.
“The rear axels, none of the brakes were working effectively,” he said.
The NSW Police said it inspected ten trucks belonging to the company and all vehicles received a defect notice ranging from issues with defective brakes and bald tyres to issues with seatbelts.
The 23-year-old driver of the truck that crashed into a McDonalds in Wollongong on Monday is an international student from India and he suffered a lower back injury. He was taken to the hospital and mandatory blood sample was taken.
The crash occurred about 10.50am Monday while coming down Old Mount Ousley Road and the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The truck travelled through the roundabout and collided with a Honda CRV being driven by an 18-year-old woman.
The truck continued through the fence of a fast food restaurant, colliding with several parked cars, and hitting the front of a Hyundai, which was occupied by a 57-year-old woman who was sitting in the driver’s seat. She was eventually freed and taken to Wollongong Hospital with possible broken ribs.
The 18-year-old driver of the CRV was taken to Wollongong Hospital with minor injuries.
Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton told the Sydney radio station that Australian Border Force has been asked to investigate claims of exploitation of international students and that they were working for the company beyond their 20 hours per week limit.
“I have asked the Australian Border Force to commence inquiries and that investigation is underway as it should be given the nature of serious allegations,” Mr Dutton said.
“It’s a tragic traffic circumstance.
“If they aren’t abiding by the law, there are consequences. People have their visas cancelled and they leave the country. In other cases, employers will be charged with exploiting those workers and acting outside the law,” the Home Affairs Minister.
The NSW Transport Workers Union is also investigating these claims.
