The remarkable story of Varvara Stepanenkova started in China. She was born to Georgian parents and had Russian upbringing. Mrs. Stepanenkova was full of interesting and entertaining stories about her family and life in Shanghai and later in Australia. We where fortunate to record her memoirs in 2006, shortly before she moved into the hostel of St. John Society in Dandenong . The incredible woman passed away in 2010.
