A report in the Daily Telegraph suggests intelligence analysts plan to covertly investigate potential migrants to Australia.

The newspaper claims the scheme is being developed by the Australia's Home Affairs Department in a bid to work out how likely potential migrants are to "integrate into society, and commit to western beliefs of gender equality, freedom of speech and freedom of religion".

Home Affairs Secretary Michael Pezzullo has told the Daily Telegraph the investigation will ensure people are not faking answers to the new Australian citizenship test, and help stop radical extremists coming to Australia.

Mr Pezzullo denies the proposal aims to exclude any particular community or ethnic groups from becoming Australians.
