The prime minister is being urged to dismiss Immigration Minister Peter Dutton over the time it took to provide new details on last month's alleged attack on the Australian-funded immigration detention centre in Papua New Guinea.
The Immigration Department told a Senate committee on Monday (May 22) nine people were injured during an apparent attempt by local members of the military to enter the Manus Island compound on Good Friday.
It initially said no one was hurt.
The Department also corrected a statement that only one weapon was discharged into the air - saying multiple shots were fired towards the facility.
Ian Rintoul from the support group, the Refugee Action Coalition, says it's outrageous the government took so long to reveal the new information.
He says Mr Dutton should be fired.
