Europe's longest-reigning queen, Margrethe II, has taken the world by surprise with the unexpected announcement of her abdication. This news has not only stunned Denmark but has reverberated across various corners of the globe. Her Majesty is set to step down next Monday, January 15th. Following her abdication, Crown Prince Frederik will ascend to the throne, assuming the title of King. Crown Princess Mary will then be formally crowned as Queen.
