Thai Lao and Australia celebrate their Friendship Bridge
NEWS: A two-day celebration is being held at Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge No. 1 from 26-27 April this year—comprising many cultural, entertainment and sporting events. The bridge was funded by a $42 million dollars aid to Laos from the Australia government during Hawk-Keating era and was opened by the late King Bhumibhol Adulyadej in 1994. Since then, trade values and people movements through the bridge have sky-rocketed and similar bridges have been completed along the Mekhong riverbanks of the two countries, of which unique bonds go back hundreds of years in history.
