A three day event focusing on Ramadan and ways to improve the daily lives through practical teachings has been held in Pakistan.
The event titled ‘Afterglow Light the Soul Retreat’ included workshops, lectures, and self-reflections of various speakers who talked about how the Islamic way of life can be incorporated into daily chores and tasks.
Speakers highlighted the strength of positivity, gratitude and humbleness as key strengths that can improve quality of life and how each individual could make a difference in the community by doing something practical.
The all-female event held in Karachi also included discussion forums, practical exercises and workout sessions that involved active participation of the attendees.
Organiser of the event, Sumika Farooqi, said the purpose of the event was to help women gather at a place and focus on the teachings of religion.
“Most women are busy with daily chores, mums are busy with their kids and for working women, it is really difficult to take out dedicated time for weekly lectures or courses.
“The event provided a dedicated time for these women as they planned in advance, took out time from their daily routine and focused completely on Ramadan and Islamic teachings.”
She said that Ramadan is a perfect time for such an event.
“The Holy month provides a great opportunity as Muslims are fasting and praying to God. So our aim was to take away important lessons from this month and continue the same practice throughout the year.”
