Australia handed over information on Filipina-Australian woman Marilou Danley to help US authorities investigate her connections with mass-shooter Stephen Paddock, who killed 58 people at a country music festival in Las Vegas overnight.
“We understand that the US had interest in an Australian citizen and they were making enquiries about Marilou Danley in connection with the shooting,” Australian foreign minister Julie Bishop said on Tuesday morning.
“But we’ve been informed that she is no longer a person of interest,” she said.
The shooter’s neighbours told the Washington Post Ms Danley lived with Mr Paddock and was his “girlfriend”. She was reportedly in the Philippines at the time of the attack, but some of her personal ID may have been used to book Mr Paddock’s Vegas hotel room.

“The Las Vegas metropolitan police have indicated that they don’t believe she was involved in the incident, but we have provided information to the US authorities so that they can continue their investigation.”
Ms Bishop said she was not aware of any Australians who had been injured up in the attack, which killed 58 people and injured more than 500, but cautioned that the situation remained unclear.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull says Australia is mourning with the United States over the "shocking and senseless" shooting in Las Vegas.
The prime minister offered his prayers to the families of the more than 50 victims and wished the hundreds of injured a swift recovery.
"We stand with you and we mourn with you in this difficult time. This is a cruel and callous attack on innocent people at a concert," Mr Turnbull told a maritime defence conference in Sydney on Tuesday.
Las Vegan Sheriff Joseph Lombardo dismissed reports authorities were "discontinuing their investigation" into Danley.
"We are continuing the investigation into that female," he said.
"There are several questions that need to be answered similar to what you proposed but she is currently out of the country.
"We are making arrangements to contact her upon her return."
