Australia says it will take 'all the Hemsworths it can' to drive tourism

Australia has launched stage two of a tourism campaign starring the Hemsworth brothers to encourage visitors from the US.

The Australian government says it will take all the Hemsworths it can when it comes to luring more US visitors to our shores.

The self-described "original" brother, Luke Hemsworth, is starring in a multimillion-dollar video showcasing the nation's natural assets as a giant movie set.

The video marks stage two of a campaign launched at the US Super Bowl in February with a mock trailer for a Crocodile Dundee film.

Federal Tourism Minister Simon Birmingham said the reaction to that was "huge" and the video was view by more than 100 million people.

"It drove massive hits to the Australia.com website. This is about building tourism visitation from the US," he said.

Luke is the eldest of the Hemsworth brothers, which include Thor star Chris and Hunger Games star Liam, who all hail from Victoria.

Senator Birmingham said the trio had pulling power, and the government would take all the Hemsworths it could.

"We'll go out and hunt for another one if we do there can be another one (campaign)," he told Nine Network.

"It's worth the money. Each visitor spends $5,000, so it takes four jumbo planes to recoup the investment in the ad."
