Australian judges for Junior Eurovision Song Contest revealed

Australia’s Junior Eurovision hosts have been revealed as Ash London and Toby Truslove.

Junior Eurovision Song Contest judges Ash and Toby will be providing their own unique commentary and banter as they take in all the action from Sofia, Bulgaria, , 7.30pm on SBS. 

A TV and radio music presenter (Shazam Top 20, Take 40, The Loop) Ash London said she is an expert on all things pop and no stranger to Eurovision.

“I was on the jury for big Eurovision earlier this year, so I’m familiar with the general madness and fabulousness of Eurovision performances, and with tweens on stage this time it’s just going to be smaller, cuter and more impressive,” London said.

Television, film and theatre star Toby Truslove (Utopia, The Librarians, The Eurovision Quiz Contest) said he knows just what it takes to nail a great performance.

“With an Aussie in the contest, I’m going to be on the edge of my commentary box seat, which is a pretty painful way to sit,” Truslove said.

“I’ve been checking out the competition, and in my strictly professional and definitely not biased opinion, Bella (Australia’s entry) has the best voice, best song and will smash it big time.”

The and production partner Blink TV as the perfect young artist to showcase Australia’s musical talents to the world.

Last month Bella said, "I couldn't believe it when I found out I was selected to represent Australia and I’m so excited to be singing my single, My Girls on a global stage in Sofia, Bulgaria.”

“My Girls is an incredible song with a powerful message to all girls. No matter what ups and downs we go through, it is important to stay strong, support each other, believe in yourself, dream big and know you can achieve your goals and dreams.”

Bella has been singing since the age of six and is already an accomplished and experienced performer.

Australian audiences may remember her as the first ever child to audition on The Voice Kids Australia, where she went all the way to the Grand Final and was runner-up in 2014.

The jury who will be analysing every pint-sized performer and casting the vote for Australia are: TV entertainment presenter Richard Wilkins (chairperson), founding Red Wiggle Murray Cook, beloved Playschool alumnus Monica Trapaga, children’s entertainer Ben Thatcher, singing coach and choir conductor Natasha Cupitt, and 15-year-old musician and singer Mara Van Duyl who represents Australia on the International Kids Jury.  

Australia’s official spokesperson, a 15-year-old Australian based in Bulgaria, Ellie Blackwell, will deliver our points live to Europe on the stage in Sofia.

SBS broadcasts the Junior Eurovision Song Contest featuring a performance by Australia’s first ever contestant Bella Paige at 7.30pm Saturday 28 November on SBS.
