Cathay Pacific has announced it will honour its "mistake" after it sold tickets worth an estimated $US16,000 for just $US675 to surprised customers.
The Hong Kong-based airline sold the first and business class tickets from Vietnam to either Canada or the US on 31 December for economy prices.
When the airline became aware of the steep discount it removed the tickets.
The same journey from Vietnam to New York costs as much as $US16,000 - $22,867 Australian dollars - in September.
However, despite the "mistake" Cathay said it would still honour the New Year's Day surprise.
The mistake was picked up by travel blogger Gary Leff, from travel and loyalty-program blog View from the Wing, and blog One Mile at a Time on New Year's Eve.
Cathay Pacific did not specify how many tickets were sold at the heavily discounted price.
But some customers who purchased the tickets took to Twitter to thank Cathay Pacific for honouring their commitment.
Earlier in 2018, Cathay Pacific made headlines for misspelling its own name on a new Boeing plane.
