Chaos and celebrations: NSW's wild weather in pictures

As some of the worst floods in years hit NSW, people are taking to social media to share images of the damage, as well as celebrations in drought and bushfire-affected regions.

Heavy rains and damaging winds have caused havoc in Sydney suburbs, while those in drought and bushfire-hit New South Wales were celebrating. 

Drenched residents and motorists caught in the flooding took to social media.
The Narrabeen Lagoon in northern Sydney flooded surrounding areas, prompting authorities to urge residents to leave.

The Western Sydney suburbs of Milperra and Liverpool were inundated in the early hours of Monday morning.
Sydney's Inner West also received a battering, with widespread flash flooding reported.
The heavy rain is causing chaos on roads across the state.

The Blue Mountains received significant falls, with NSW SES Blue Mountains unit receiving more than 100 calls for assistance by Sunday afternoon.

The wild weather brought huge waves to coastal regions, with NSW Maritime reporting a number of boats were sunk in the dangerous conditions.

It isn't all bad news, with many residents in New South Wales embracing the wet conditions.

There were celebrations in regional areas too. 

NSW Rural Fire Service were among the happiest about the heavy downpours, which have helped put out numerous fires including the Currowan Fire in Shoalhaven which had been burning since 26 November 2019.
A sentiment reiterated by South Coast residents.
Drought-ravaged farmers welcomed the rain.
