Ex-union official to stand trial

An former CFMEU organiser in the ACT, Halafihi "Fihi" Kivalu, will stand trial over blackmail charges.

A former Canberra construction union organiser has been committed to stand trial on blackmail charges.

Halafihi "Fihi" Kivalu is accused of pocketing thousands of dollars from companies in exchange for work approvals.

The case against the ex-CFMEU organiser, who maintains his innocence, will be heard in the ACT Supreme Court on October 29.
