Exit polls show Romania's leftist Social Democrat Party (PSD) has won the parliamentary election.

Romania's leftist Social Democrat Party (PSD) has won the parliamentary election with 45.5-45.8 per cent of votes, two exit polls show.

The centre-right National Liberal Party (PNL) was trailing the leftists on Sunday with 20.7-21.0 per cent, polls conducted by CURS-Avangarde and IRES showed.

New Save Romania Union party garnered 8.0-9.2 per cent of the vote, the polls showed.
