A distressing child exploitation video is being shared on Facebook buy, swap and sell pages, police are warning.
A still image and link are appearing in the Facebook feeds of people who follow the pages, prompting a warning from ACT Police about the penalties of sharing the material.
"The still image of the video indicates there is child exploitation material contained in the video, and police are urging people not to click on it as they may find the images distressing," an ACT Police spokeswoman said.
Three people are believed to have made complaints to police about the material, which has been seen by people in NSW, Queensland and the ACT.
Police say they understand Facebook is aware of the material.
"Facebook have reporting obligations to the law enforcement in their country," the police spokeswoman said.
"They will then identify the country of origin of the material and notify that country's authorities for actioning."
Those who forward the material face penalties, she said.
Anyone who sees the material is urged to report it to Facebook for it to be removed.
