Free dental checks promised for NSW kids

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian is promising free dental checks for thousands of primary school children, pledging to roll out 35 new mobile clinics from July.

Dozens of new mobile dental clinics will be rolled out across NSW if the state coalition government is re-elected, offering free checks to primary school children.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian on Wednesday promised $70 million over four years for 35 clinics across western Sydney, Central Coast and the mid north coast.

The roll-out will start from July 1, if the Liberal-Nationals are re-elected on Saturday.

"Dental health is so important to give kids a great start in life, and we want to make it easier for families to get access to vital dental services," Ms Berejiklian said in a statement.

Publicly-funded dental services for children are currently only available at fixed clinics at hospitals or in the community, according to the government.
