A prisoner who escaped from Goulburn jail earlier this week has appeared in court, where his lawyer indicated he is likely to plead guilty over the getaway.

Beau Wiles, 25, became the subject of a police search on Wednesday after police said he disappeared from a work area outside the minimum-security section within the Goulburn Correctional Complex.

Wiles was eventually caught on Thursday afternoon more than 150km away in Unanderra, south of Sydney, after the car he was travelling in was pulled over.

Wiles is due to return to Port Kembla Local Court on October 14.

He did not apply for bail and it was formally refused.

Meanwhile, 32-year-old Rebecca Watts - who is accused of harbouring Wiles after his escape - has also appeared in court.

She did not apply for bail and is due to return to court on the same day as Wiles.

A 39-year-old man from Figtree who has been charged with aiding Wiles's escape is due to appear for the first time at the same court on October 28.
