Syrian opposition activists reported an airstrike on the al-Qaterji neighbourhood in Aleppo late on Wednesday.
Footage obtained by opposition media group Aleppo Media Centre of the attack shows three children covered in dust and blood being pulled from a building hit in the airstrike.
An image of one of the children, Omran Daqneesh, has been shared thousands of times on social media.
One person tweeted the image with the caption: "And tonight we fall asleep like nothing happened in Aleppo."
The reported that the child was taken to the M10 hospital, where doctors treated his head injuries before releasing him that night.
Doctors at the hospital said a dozen children under the age of 15 were treated on the same day.
The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the airstrikes left three dead and many injured, some in critical conditions.
The Local Coordination Committees, a Syrian opposition monitoring group, reported that the attack was conducted by a Russian warplane.
