Residents across NSW can now add their COVID-19 vaccination proof to the Service NSW app when they check-in to venues, as the state nears its second stage of reopening.
Customer Service Minister Victor Dominello confirmed on Friday the COVID-19 digital vaccination certificate can now be integrated with the Service NSW app.
This means fully vaccinated people can show their certificate to staff when they check-in to a venue.
"This is an extra digital service to make life easier for the businesses and customers of NSW as we open back up," he said.
“While integrating the COVID-19 digital certificate onto the Service NSW app will be optional, it will be the by far the easiest and quickest way to prove you’re fully vaccinated.”
It follows a regional pilot with clubs, aged care facilities and taxis in regional areas including Port Macquarie, Tamworth, Wagga Wagga and Lismore.
The government says the app will include a number of security measures to help compliance officers and businesses checking and validating certificates.
The announcement comes as Premier Dominic Perrottet confirmed restrictions will ease further from Monday, shortly after the state is expected to hit 80 per cent full vaccination coverage.
The number of guests at weddings and funerals will be unlimited and up to 20 visitors will be allowed in homes.
Community sport can resume, masks will no longer be required in offices, and drinking while standing up and dancing indoors is back.
But Sydneysiders will be unable to travel to the regions until 1 November, authorities confirmed on Friday, along with announcing fully vaccinated international travellers
Here's how to set up your digital certificate and add it to the Services NSW app.
Finding your COVID-19 digital certificate
After you have received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, you can access your "Immunisation History Statement" or COVID-19 digital certificate from the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR).
This can be done using your Medicare through your myGov account.
To access your certificate online, create or sign in to your myGov account, and link to your Medicare online account. Select the "Proof of COVID-19 vaccination" link, then "View history" and your name to view your certificate.
If you are using the Express Plus Medicare app, you can also access your certificate there, however myGov and Medicare online accounts are still required.
It can take up to 10 days for your vaccination to be uploaded to the AIR.
A digital certificate can then be added to a smartphone wallet to be shown as proof of vaccination.
Sharing your digital certificate with the Service NSW app
Once your vaccination appears in your Express Plus Medicare app, select the option to "Share with check in app", choose "Service NSW" and follow the prompts.
Then, log in to the Service NSW app and follow the prompts to add your digital certificate to your profile. You'll need the latest version of the app to do this.
You may need to select "show more" to show you have a valid certificate when you check-in.
Proof of vaccination without a smartphone
If you're not using a smartphone, you can follow the same steps through myGov using your Medicare online account.
Alternatively, you can print your digital certificate at home.
Or, you can call Services Australia on 1800 653 809 and ask them to send a copy to you. This can take up to 14 days to arrive.
Proof of vaccination without Medicare
If you're not eligible for Medicare, you can still access and share a COVID-19 digital certificate. To do this, you'll need an (IHI) number, which you can apply for
From there, you can follow the same prompts to view your certificate and share it with Service NSW.
