An Indigenous actor's mock blackface make-up tutorial on YouTube is going viral just days after an Australian basketball player landed herself in hot water for dressing up in blackface.

A satirical video featuring an Indigenous actor delivering a mock make-up tutorial on how to do blackface properly is attracting worldwide attention.

Bjorn Stewart's clip has been posted on Facebook and YouTube and has been viewed more than 100,000 times on Facebook.

In the video, the actor explains he has been  "getting a lot of comments lately on how to do blackface and how to look like an Aboriginal. So today I'm going to teach you how to do blackface."

Holding up a tin of shoe polish,  he continues: "What we are going to do with the shoe polish is .... not do ******* blackface, you dumb ****".

The popularity of the video follows the controversy this week involving Opals' player Alice Kunek.
She coloured her face at a dress-up party as a tribute to rapper Kanye West, prompting angry condemnation from fellow basketballer Liz Cambage on Twitter and an online apology from Kunek.
