Indonesian authorities are expecting the death toll to climb into the thousands as a result of in Indonesia on Friday.
The 7.5 magnitude quake also triggered a tsunami that ripped apart the coastline of the city of Palu.
The death toll currently stands at more than 800 people, as emergency services continue to search for survivors. Rescuers are struggling to access some remote communities and are working with limited equipment.

World Vision's local relief team has begun assessing emergency needs and has some relief supplies pre-positioned in the affected region.
Australian Red Cross
Red Cross provides humanitarian support to people and communities in need.
Red Cross teams have been on the scene since the earthquake hit. They are supporting search and rescue efforts, transporting the deceased, helping the survivors with first aid and medical treatment, and handing out plastic sheeting for shelter and sleeping mats so people have somewhere dry to sleep. Red Cross disaster management experts are now focussing on Palu, Sigi and Donggala, treating injuries and illness.
Save the Children
Save the Children is one of Australia's largest aid and development agencies dedicated to helping children. Save the Children is on the ground responding with emergency assistance to the millions of vulnerable children who will be affected by the disaster.
UNICEF Australia
UNICEF is the United Nations children's organisation working in some of the toughest places in the world.
The organisation will prepare supplies for families, especially for those in vulnerable communities. UNICEF is already preparing to help reunite children with their families, feed the youngest and most vulnerable, provide clean water and comfort traumatised children.
CARE Australia
CARE Australia is dedicated to ending poverty and achieving social justice. The charity focuses on women and girls, fighting for equal rights and opportunities.
Oxfam Australia
Oxfam is preparing to provide a team on the ground helping the most vulnerable people access clean drinking water, portable toilets, sanitation facilities and other essential supplies.
Plan Australia
Plan International Australia works alongside children and young people to address the causes of injustices facing girls and the most marginalised children. The organisation provides disaster relief to survivors and assists in ensuring communities are prepared for disasters in the future.
Donations will go towards rations packs, hygiene kits, emergency shelter, school kits and blankets.
