Tributes are flowing from the heartbroken friends of the 18-year-old killed along with her mother in a horror two-car accident in Brisbane's east on Christmas Day.
Makayla Tritton and her 56-year-old mother Karin died following the head-on collision at the Brisbane bayside suburb of Manly West.
The pair, along with Makayla's father Laurence and 23-year-old sister Tarmeka, were travelling from Narangba to Birkdale for Christmas lunch when the accident occurred.
Police allege a black BMW sedan crossed the median strip and hit a tree before colliding with the Trittons' Mitsubishi sedan.
"When I found out yesterday that it was you and your family in the accident all I could was cry," Vicki-lee Canfield wrote on Facebook in tribute to her friend.
"It can't be real that you and your mum are gone."
The Trittons are well-known members of the tenpin bowling community in southeast Queensland, with Makayla working at the Strathpine Hyper Bowl in Brisbane's north.
The bowling alley released a statement on behalf of its staff.
"Makayla was the golden child to all of us here and always will be," the statement said.
"We loved her with all our hearts and always will ... We wish our deepest condolences to the Tritton family."
A Gofundme page for the Trittons established on Tuesday has surpassed a funding goal of $5000, with $5569 raised by 1pm AEST on Wednesday.
Both Laurence and Tarmeka are expected to make full physical recoveries, as police who attended the scene admitted it had been a traumatic experience to witness.
The 46-year-old BMW driver has been charged with multiple offences including dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death.
He faced a bedside hearing at the Princess Alexandra Hospital on Tuesday and is scheduled to appear at Wynnum Magistrates Court on January 15.
Elsewhere, a 24-year-old Kingaroy man has been denied bail after appearing in court over the alleged hit-and-run death of a 51-year-old woman northwest of Brisbane on Christmas night.
The woman's body was found by police on the New England Highway at Yarraman at 11.40am and police have charged the man with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and failing to remain at the scene of a road incident.
He has been remanded in custody and will reappear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court next month.
A 59-year-old man has also died following a single-vehicle accident north of Cairns on Wednesday morning.
The vehicle the man was driving crashed into a power pole just after 6am in Redlynch and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
