In a new campaign advertisement released on Monday night, former Prime Minister Julia Gillard has endorsed Democratic president candidate Hillary Clinton.
Ms Gillard praises Mrs Clinton’s commitment to the education of girls and ending violence towards women and children around the world.
"Hillary Clinton understood in her heart how important it was for girls to get an opportunity, but she also understood in her head if we want to build economically prosperous nations then we have to educate girls," Ms GIllard says.
She also applauds Mrs Clinton’s understanding of the Asia Pacific region, saying as president she would help to shape the best future.
The advertisement focuses on Mrs Clinton’s leadership skills during her time as Secretary of State.
It also includes a clip from an interview with US President Barack Obama in which he says Mrs Clinton would be remembered "as one of the finest Secretaries of State we’ve had”.
Mrs Clinton’s high production advertisement highlights her human rights record, including her focus on peace in the Middle East, LGBTI rights globally and her work on eliminating aids in Africa.
