For 106-year-old Virginia McLaurin, setting foot in the White House was an opportunity she would not be wasting, breaking out into a boogie to express her joy.

Impressed with her energy, US President Barack Obama asked, "What's the secret to still dancing at 106?" Her response: "Just keep moving."
"I thought, I would never live to get in the White House," she said.

"I am so happy - a black president! A black wife!" to which Michelle Obama responded, "that's me."

"I'm here to celebrate black history," Ms McLaurin said.

Ms McLaurin had been campaigning since 2014 to meet the Obamas.
"I didn't think I'd ever live to see a coloured president," she said in a video in 2014. "I'm so happy."
