North Melbourne have announced their AFLW arrival in emphatic style, with a 36-point thrashing of Carlton.
The Kangaroos signed a slew of high-profile recruits heading into their debut season but the biggest question mark was how they'd click.
They answered with a comprehensive 7.10 (52) to 2.4 (16) victory on Sunday at North Hobart Oval.
"I heard a lot of people saying 'are they going to gel?' - I just knew they would," Kangaroos coach Scott Gowans said.
"They executed really well - it's a pleasing start. There's a lot of growth areas as well, which is terrific."
Emma King was a standout with a double and a game-high seven tackles.
Reigning league best-and-fairest and skipper Emma Kearney and Ashleigh Riddell sparked the Kangaroos from midfield.
Kearney, who joined from last year's premiers Western Bulldogs, finished equal-top of the possession count with 18 alongside Kate Gillespie-Jones.
Former Australia cricketer Jessica Duffin was also strong for the Kangaroos. North Melbourne are playing two games this season in Tasmania as part of their close affiliation with the state.
The match, played in front of a healthy crowd of 4896, began in warm sunshine and smoky skies from bushfires ravaging Tasmania.
Despite the final scoreline, last year's wooden spooners Carlton held their own early.
Both teams kicked a goal in the opening quarter before the Kangaroos pulled away with three unanswered majors in the second term.
They had two in two minutes to break the Blues when Alison Drennan finished off some strong ball movement.
North Melbourne controlled the ball with 56 marks to Carlton's 23.
"They're pretty good. I think we've seen the benchmark pretty quickly," Carlton coach Daniel Harford said of his opposition.
"Our girls didn't get to show what they were capable of because the opposition were too good.
"There's positives we can take out of it but, as a collective, we got comprehensively mauled."
The crowd had an extra cheer for the Kangaroos' Brittany Gibson, who became the first Tasmanian to kick an AFLW goal on home turf in the fourth term.
