Questions over Liberal Senator Arthur Sinodinos's connection to a political donations scandal should be resolved before an election is called, the federal opposition says.
Labor frontbencher Anthony Albanese has defended the party's push to force Senator Sinodinos before a senate committee, saying issues relating to electoral law were among the cabinet secretary's areas of responsibility.
"Because of Senator Sinodinos's position as cabinet secretary, there is an interest in getting to the bottom of this and doing it prior to an election being called," Mr Albanese told ABC News.
