Last surviving 1928 Games medallist dies

Carla Marangoni, who won silver at the 1928 Games and was the oldest living Olympic medallist, has died aged 102 years, the Italian Olympic Committee said.

Carla Marangoni, the last surviving medallist from the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics, has died. She was 102.

As a 12-year-old, Marangoni was a member of the Italian team that won silver in gymnastics.

The Italian Olympic Committee says Marangoni died Thursday. No cause of death was given.

The Italian Olympic committe says she was the world's oldest living Olympic medallist.
