The Prime Minister began his Christmas day making prawn cocktails, posing for selfies and dancing to the Kinks at Sydney's Wayside Chapel.
Now in its 14 year, the Wayside Chapel's Christmas lunch for the homeless catered to around 500 people on Monday, with dozens of volunteers giving up their Christmas morning to help those less fortunate.
Mr Turnbull thanked volunteers and posed for selfies at the event, which serves up about 1000 meals, many of them taken away and distributed to hungry people through Sydney's streets.
"Merry Christmas, it's wonderful to be here with you all. I want to thank in particular all the volunteers - the people who work at the Wayside, it is a great exercise in practical, unconditional love," Mr Turnbull told the crowd.
The prime minister was a hit with the crowd, serving bread and kebabs and dishing up prawn cocktails.
Walking through the festive crowd, surrounded by his security detail, Mr Turnbull was lured onto the dance floor for a brief boogie.

Earlier, several members of the Chapel spoke to the crowd of several hundred, describing their time with Wayside and how the Chapel had helped them.
"This organisation, these people, this staff - it's not really the building - but it's the people here that give you the inspiration and motivation to make a change in yourself," one man said.
Wayside Chapel chief executive Reverend Graham Long said he understood Christmas Day could be a tough time for some people without family.
"It's about community, no one should be alone on Christmas day," Rev Long told reporters.
Rev Long said the Christmas lunch was attended by a wide variety of people, not just Sydney's homeless community.
"A lot of the people who come here don't actually have a roof over their head and a lot of them are quite wealthy."
