An American philanthropist has bought an entire toy store to donate to New York's poorest children.
The New York woman, Carol Suchmann, she always donated toys at Christmas time, but saw an opportunity when she walked past closed toy and stationary store with a for rent sign in the window in New York's West Village.
"When I saw this toy store, I just realized I could do it on a grander scale," she told NY1.
Ms Suchmann said she contacted the owner of the shop and negotiated to buy all of the shop's products, including thousands of stuffed toys and boxes of school supplies.
She then bagged it all up and took it to New York's Department of Homeless Services.
"Children is always my focus," she said.
"So that's why, a lot of foster kids get a lot of used things and I realized a lot of them never had a birthday gift that they actually wanted."
"I've been doing this for many years and we have many generous sponsors — people do toy drives and do a lot of giving — but I have to say, that this is the first time anybody ever bought out an entire store and donated to the children of shelters," the DHS' special events director Antonio Rodriquez told NY1.
