Nicole Kidman says she will join Hollywood's elite actresses in wearing black gowns to the Golden Globes in a show of solidarity with women who have been abused and harassed.

The usually glamour-filled awards ceremony at the Beverly Hilton on Sunday is set to become a public protest by Hollywood's biggest names in the aftermath of producer Harvey Weinstein and numerous other influential men being accused of sexual abuse and harassment.

Kidman has been a vocal supporter of the Time's Up and #MeToo movements.

"We are in a position now to elicit change and we can do it all together," Kidman told reporters on the red carpet at the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts international awards in Hollywood on Friday.

"Basically it is about eradicating abuse for everyone right now and creating opportunities for women."

Actresses are expected to wear black at the Globes and Reese Witherspoon and Eva Longoria reportedly plan to lead a march down the red carpet.

Kidman said she was not aware of the march.

Witherspoon and Longoria launched the Time's Up legal defence fund this week designed to provide subsidised legal support to people who have experienced sexual harassment, assault, or abuse in the workplace.
