A Bondi bowls club has been fined $10,000 for failure to comply with COVID-19 measures, as NSW announced five new cases of the virus on Saturday.
Liquor & Gaming NSW identified Bondi Bowling Club as "the worst venue to date" in breaching COVID-19 rules, after inspectors visited the venue on 29 August.
They identified multiple group bookings exceeding the 10-person limit, patrons disregarding social distancing while queuing at the bar, and inadequate sign-in processes.
"We are still on a cliff edge, but you wouldn’t know it if you went to Bondi Bowling Club on 29 August. The venue was operating as though the COVID safety measures were optional," said Liquor & Gaming director of compliance, Dimitri Argeres.
"This presented a pretty grim picture of patrons and staff who are simply ignoring the restrictions everyone else has to live with and putting the entire community at risk."
He said a new is being launched by the NSW government to enable members of the public to report breaches.
It comes as NSW recorded five new COVID-19 cases from more than 30,000 tests in the 24 hours to 8pm on Friday, including four linked to the City Tattersalls Club gym cluster.
That cluster in Sydney's CBD now numbers 61 people.
An additional case was recorded after the 8pm deadline in a health professional who wore PPE while working at Concord Hospital on 1 September and Liverpool Hospital on 3 September.
Patients and staff members who were in contact with the health professional are being contacted and advised to get tested and self-isolate.
NSW Health has also issued health alerts for Kuleto's Cocktail Bar in Newtown on 28 August, Bondi Platinum Fitness First on 31 August and Randwick Fitness First from 30 August to 1 September after they were visited by confirmed COVID-19 cases.
Anyone at the Newtown bar between 6.30pm and 9.30pm on August 28 for at least one hour must immediately get tested and self-isolate for 14 days.
With Father's Day on Sunday, NSW Health has also advised against visiting Sydney, Blue Mountains or Central Coast aged care homes over the weekend.
"We understand this will be difficult for many families on Father's Day, however our priority is to prevent the spread of the virus into the most vulnerable people in the community," NSW Health's Dr Christine Selvey said in a statement on Saturday.
Six COVID-19 cases in NSW are currently in intensive care, with four ventilated.
Meanwhile, a man has been accused of trying to bribe a police officer with $1,000 at the NSW-Victoria border.
Officers said they stopped a car from Victoria at the Barmah Bridge checkpoint about 2pm on Friday, asking the driver for his border permit to enter NSW.
The 66-year-old Victorian man was arrested after allegedly not being able to provide a valid permit and instead offering an officer an envelope containing $1,000.
The man, who was charged with offering a bribe to a member of NSW Police, was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear before Moama Local Court on 4 November.
